Viva Inzi?

There is only one reason why the defeat affects me. Inzamam didn't deserve to go this way, and I really hope he makes the decision to go on his own rather than be unceremoniously booted out. That would be a painful end to a marvellous career that lifted off so dramatically in that breathtaking World Cup Semi-Final in 1992. I, and many fellow Pakistanis can never forget that innings of sheer brilliance that proved so pivotal in Pakistan's ultimate victory, but that was a different World Cup and it was a much younger, unburdened by Captaincy rearing to prove himself, Inzamam.

In all the sports I watch that do not have a Pakistani presence I almost invariably support the underdog, so Ireland's win yesterday on St. Patrick's Day (and my particular partiality to Irish Literature) at least appealed to that part of my nature. The surge of popularity that Cricket enjoys when an Associate country wins is also a reason to celebrate the Irish win. More pros? (with due apology to Indian readers)

--) India faced an equally humiliating defeat against Bangladesh

--) At least this time there is no chance of Pakistan suffering the ignominy of another World Cup loss against India.

--) Kamran Akmal finally had a good day.

i came to your blog after quite a few days and wasn't surprised to see a cricket post right on top, but instinctively i didn't want to read it because for some reason (which i don't know myself), despite everything, i still can't bear any Pakistan-team-bashing, and i've always been like that since i was little and would watch matches without really understanding what was going on :) so i'm really happy that i did still read the post 'cause i agree with every word in it :) except irish literature, and that too simply because i know nothing about it...hehe. but i really want ireland to make it through to the next stage now, which seems quite realistic...other than Pakistan, i was rooting for a lot of the underdogs...this time it doesn't seem so futile! hehe.

anyway, it's nice to be back here after quite a while...was catching up on some of your posts. and thought i might as well attempt at a li'l publicity of my own while i'm at it. haha, jk but i loved reading your comments on my blog so umm...if you have time and nothing better to do with your life, it'd be great if you could drop by at it sometime if you like :) it's not on blogspot anymore, the new link is macharvibes.spaces.live.com :)

'hope all's well at your end. take care.

Well, i wish it could have been a little better, not at the hands of a non test playing nation. May ALLAH help our cricket structure.

Since the first match-fixing scandal broke out, I've never really been sure of any team and watch much less of cricket than I used to (often missing classes at school and college).

I really don't know how many players still play for the glory of the game, their team and their own personal glory, in that order, rather than for the money (regardless of its source or the means through which it is obtained).

The lack of consistence in the performance of several teams, including India, only leads to my suspicions being fuelled further.
